The Municipal School of Dance and Performance of Calvià was born in the 2007-2008 school year, after the success it had had as an extracurricular activity in the different public schools of the municipality, run by the Mª Antonia Más dance studio.

Currently, the school's activities take place in the Palmanova Room. In the classes, boys and girls from 4 to 11 years old begin dancing and/or acting, as well as young people from 12 to 17 years old continue with their artistic training or are encouraged to explore an unknown world that attracts them.

During the course, the different groups participate in cultural events and others typical of the municipality as collaborators in activities promoted by the Department of Culture, such as now the celebration of Dance Day in Peguera or participation in the School Theater Exhibition (TEC). which is celebrated every year between the months of April and June.

Taking dance and theater to the streets, where they emerged, is one of the school's objectives: to give visibility to a world that, at times, is far from the daily life of the population and, above all, from childhood. and youth.

In the summer the activity continues with the "Summer School - Calvià Culture - Dance and Theater", and takes place at the Casal de Peguera. During the month of July, students enjoy recreational activities such as crafts and group games, alternating dance and acting classes, as they are the pillars of the programming.

Calvià has opted for culture, offering a wide range of options from an early age.
Who knows if the next prima ballerina of the Dance Company or the best new actor can come from Calvià.
