The Mayor of Calvià and the Councillor for Health officially opened, this morning, the new Health Centre which offers a wide range of services, including dental care
The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado and the Councillor for Health and Consumer Protection, Vicenç Thomàs, have officially opened the new Palmanova Health Centre, which cost 5,8 million euros.
The new building, of 2.811 sq. metres, is built on a site conceded by the Town Hall. The ground floor has a large admissions and reception area, consultation rooms, records area and board room. There is also an area for emergencies ; a consultation area for the midwife, with a room for antenatal preparation and another for physiotherapy, with a gymnasium for rehabilitation ; an infirmary for minor surgical procedures and an all-purpose consultation room. On the two upper floors there are 26 inter-connecting consultation rooms and a further 2 for dental care. The building is completely access friendly.
Opening hours are 08.00h. - 21.00h., Monday to Thursday, and 08.00h. - 19.00h. on Friday. Outside of these hours, patients requiring urgent attention will have to go to the Santa Ponça Centre (PAC), as before.
The new area of basic health care will be manned by a staff of 33: 10 GP's, 6 of whom will be based in the new Palmanova Centre ; 3 paediatrics, 1 of whom will be based, all day, in the new Palmanova centre ; 10 nurses, 6 of whom will, also, be in Palmanova; a midwife ; a physiotherapist ; an auxiliary nurse ; a part-time rehabilitation specialist, and 3 assistants.
