The agreement, valid until 2015, will allow to increase considerably the volume of the selective collection of glass and cardboard at the commercial establishments.

Promotion of the selective rubbish collection.

Both, the Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, and the President of Calvià 2000, Mª Cristina Tugores, have signed an agreement, this morning, with the municipality´s business associations (FETUR, ACOTUR and the Association of Bars and Restaurants) in which a joint action is established in terms of urban solid residues selective collection at commercial establishments.

The implementation of this agreement will allow the public company Calvià 2000 to increase considerably the selective collection of glass and cardboard and thus, reduce the income of residues to be incinerated or for final deposit.

All those establishments located in the tourist streets of the municipality, will be able to benefit from the agreement with a previous request to Calvià 2000. Also, they will have to commit themselves to comply with the conditions established within the agreemeent, such as the separation of paper-cardboard, light containers, glass and organic matter on the one hand and the acquisition of the necessary containers for those materials, on the other hand. The collection will be carried out at the establishments entrance within the timetable agreed previously.

Joan Thomas, manager of Calvià 2000, Rosa Marín in representation of FETUR (Trade and Tourist Services Balearic Federation), José Tirado from ACOTUR and Octavio Fernández Díaz on behalf of the Calvià´s Bars and Restaurants Association, were also present at the signing of the agreement.
