The presentation of the second edition of the urban art project BetArt was held this morning at the Hotel Vistasol.
The Hotel Vistasol has been the scenario chosen by the Calvià Town Hall to present the second edition of the urban art project BetArt.
The idea, pioneer in the Balearic Islands, was launched last year with 5 main objectives:
Carry out artistic interventions taking art to the street in order to find the interaction with both, the citizen and the visitor
Guarantee the participation of local artists
Create synergies amongst artists and public and private entities
Promote a new meeting space amongst artists, people interested in art and citizens in general.
Add value to the municipality of Calvià creating new tourist attractions and embellishing private and public spaces
BetArt is a result of the dialogue between the artists and the Calvià Town Hall in order to give an answer to a new era in which art is taken out to the street to be enjoyed by everyone, thus promoting the local artists.
The second edition´s project contemplates the carrying out of seven interventions throughout the municipality in which Javier Garló will participate as a local artist. Apart from Garló, Llorenç Balaguer “Negrotinto”, Bartomeu Sastre and Andrés Senra were selected from other 32 artists.
Furthermore, Escif and Nuria Mora presented by Magda Albis and Pilar Rubí will take part in this edition. E1000 and Maíllo are proposed by Tolo Cañellas. Nano 4814 and Spok are a proposal of Cristina Anglada.
The jury was composed by two technical experts of the project's coordinating team and by the commissioners who also explained the speech and work of these artists.
From the offer of spaces available in the catalogue, the artists chose the following: Spok will work on the Endesa's electric power station located in the parking of Lidl supermarket, Núria Mora will carry out an intervention in a space of the Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis, Maíllo will work on one of the walls which borders the building Es Generador, Javier Garló and Andrés Senra will carry out their projects in the Endesa´s electric power station located in the gardens of the Palmanova Services Centre, Jaume Balaguer “Negrotinto” will present a collaborative project in which young people of the municipality will participate and which will carry out in one of the Palmanova Services Centre walls, E1000 will also work on one of the Palmanova Services Centre walls and Escif will carry out his proposal on the main wall of the Hotel Vistasol in Magaluf.
