The Town Hall participates in the humanitarian project carried out by “Holidays in Peace 2014”, thus collaborating within the search of Calvià families willing to foster care Saharan children during the forthcoming Summer.

Once more, the Calvià Town Hall participates in the humanitarian project, “Holidays in Peace 2014”, carried out by the Friends of the Saharan People Association and therefore, spreads said project and collaborates within the search of Calvià families willing to foster care Saharan children during the forthcoming Summer.

Thus, all those families willing to participate in this supportive project with the Saharan people, foster caring Saharan children with ages which range from 8 to 12 years, coming from the Tindouf refugee camps in the south-west of Algeria, a desert area known as Hamada, can contact with Holidays in Peace, calling the telephone number 971728839 or with the Calvià Town Hall´s Social Welfare Service, calling the telephone number 971 13 91 73.

The main obejectives pursued within this project are:

1.- Help the children to avoid the high temperatures of 50ºC which are reached in the desert during these two Summer months.

2.- Diagnose and treat the children from a sanitary point of view with the aim of avoiding the development of serious diseases and/or provide them a better way of life.

3.- Remind and make the citizens of the Balearic Islands aware that the Saharan conflict persists and that it is getting worse, day by day. Therefore, the children become ambassadors of their home land, taking into consideration that they are received by the communities authorities and that has a strong media impact.
