The Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, has presented this morning the grants, which this year add up to 200.000 euros, a 33% increase with regards to last year.

The Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, and the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Enrique Ortega, have presented this morning the grants corresponding to 2014 to those clubs and associations promoting the sport in the municipality. In total, the Town Hall has earmarked 200.000 euros, a 33% increase with regards to last year, amongst 45 recipients.



These grants in favour of sport are joined to the BED plan scholarships (Becas Deportistas de Élite/ Scholarships for Professional Sportspeople), which the Town Hall announced at the beginning of the year and for which will allocate 25.000€.



After the event, the Mayor highlighted the importance of the sport entities within their task of "educating and transmitting values to the youth".
