The common objective of this gathering is no other than to achieve agreements which allow to guarantee to the limit the security and quality of the services received by the tourists who visit Magalluf.

The Magalluf´s tourist season follow-up comission has agreed to review the majority of municipal by-laws and specially those related to Pub Crawling and Dynamic Advertising at the meeting held this afternoon and which has counted with the presence of the Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, the Consistory's Socialist Spokesperson, Alfonso Rodríguez, the President of the Hotel Association of Palmanova and Magalluf, Sebastián Darder, the responsibles of the representative entities of the complementary offer of Calvià, FETUR and ACOTUR, Luís Marín and José Tirado, respectively, the head responsible of the association of discoteques of the area, Jesús Sánchez, Fernando Luengo and Mari Carmen Navarro of the taxi drivers association of Calvià, as well as representatives of the Guardia Civil of Palmanova, the Local Police of Calvià and other municipal departments such as Calvià 2000, Commerce or Maintenance, amongst others.

During the meeting, all attendees made a critical assessment of what has been the high season and the serious problems that are repeated year after year in this area of the municipality in which thousands of people gather, especially young people, during the months of July and August. The municipal representatives coincided in noting that some of the measures and actions undertaken have reduced by 60% the presence of prostitutes on the street and dropped substantially, up to 78%, the street vending but, even so, it has been noted that there is still much to be done, especially in Punta Ballena, because "it is clear that something is wrong”, concluded the socialist representative with the approval and support of the rest of participants.

Precisely, the common objective of this gathering is no other than to achieve agreements which allow to guarantee to the limit the security and quality of the services received by the tourists who visit Magalluf, thus improving its image as a holiday destination towards the national and international markets, a very damaged image after having suffered a very difficult and negative Summer, particularly from the media point of view.

These gatherings regularly take place every year, before and after the season, although in this occasion, they have counted with the incentive of having, for the first time, representatives of the Socialist Party, fact that has been appreciated positively by all the comission members thus converting the Calvià's tourist matter in a "Matter of State". In fact, another of the agreements achieved is referred to the frequency of these meetings which will be more regular as from today and until the forthcoming month of May, therefore the next meeting is due for within 20 days and in which some concrete measures and solutions referred, mainly, to the municipal by-laws will be adopted by consensus.
