Calvià Daily

The Town Hall of Calvià through the Environment Service and driven by Calvia's Office for Climate, has been conducting seabed and coastal waste collection since 2007 on the shoreline of the municipality.

Since the cleaning began, more than 700 volunteers have been involved in 27 actions carried out on the beaches and the seabed of Calvià. From 2007 to 2014 a total of 11,975 kg. have been extracted. The Mayor thanked the technicians, municipal workers, collaborators and volunteers for the cleaning work, and for raising awareness both between residents and tourists.

This program began in 2007 and since then it has been repeated every year with the following objectives:

-to preserve the coastline and seabed of Calvià.

-to raise awareness among tourists, tour operators, citizens and businesses about the importance of protecting our coast.

-to involve the maximum amount of volunteers in the program and publicize the environmental value of Calvià's coast.

-to involve different social agents related to the marine environment and it's preservation (nautical clubs and marinas, diving centres, hotels, tour operators, etc.)
