The IES Bendinat has obtained the "The Education Good Practice Award 2015" European Prize. It is a prestigious prize which is presented every year to recognise the creativity, originality and the innovation of the language teaching and learning methods.

The Mayor highlighted that this prize means a well-deserved recognition to the work undertaken these last years by the teachers and pupils of the secondary school. Furthermore, he pointed out that this distinction will motivate them to continue working with even more enthusiasm from this point on, and he has expressed his gratitude for the teachers' dedication to improve the comprehensive education of the children's principles.

The meeting with the Mayor was attended by the Headmistress of the IES (Secondary School) of Bendinat, Margalida Gomila; the School Supervisor, Manel Suárez; the Head of the English Department, Carme Moreno, and the teacher in charge of the project, Apol·lònia Alou. On the part of the Town Hall also attended the meeting the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion, in charge of Education, Nati Francés, and the councillor delegate for the area of Bendinat, Mayte Albertí.

The prize is announced by the Ministry of Culture, and the body in charge of its management in Spain is the SEPIE (Spanish Service for the Education's Internationalisation-Servicio Español para la Internacionalización de la Educación). Together with the trophy and the diploma, this first prize means an economic help for the centre of 4.500 euros.

The prize was presented last 25th September at the National Library of Spain in Madrid, and was collected by a delegation of teachers of the IES Bendinat, amongst whom were the centre's Headmistress, Margalida Gomila, and the project's responsible, Apol·lònia Alou.

For the past ten years, the IES Bendinat is carrying out an educational activity called "BENDIS" in which participate all the pupils in 4th year of ESO (Obligatory Secondary Education) together with the teachers of the departments of English, Social Studies, Music and Plastic Arts. The project implies the production of films in groups, and comes to an end with a ceremony in the style of the Oscars Awards or the Goya Awards, in which are presented statuettes (Bendis) created by the Plastic Arts pupils and it is enliven with performances coordinated by the music teachers. Teachers of the departments of Social Studies and English, together with last year's winners make up the jury which decides the prizes.

Besides the prizes for the best script, edition, actor, actress and film, there is also a special prize dedicated to the best filming about the subject chosen in the current year, such as the moral education, the respect for the environment, or other current issues.

The project progresses, improves and involves more and more people. For the next year it is expected that the teachers of technology teach the pupils how to film and produce their films. It is also planned that the Cine Fórum which has been created in collaboration with the parents of the centre, dedicates an edition to the viewing of the short films undertaken by the pupils in 4th year of ESO.
