SOL HALF MARATHON MAGALUF 2016, much more than a sports event
The event's 32nd edition arrives charged of novelties aimed at consolidating the race within the national and international sports outlook.
The SOL HALF MARATHON MAGALUF 2016 will take place on the forthcoming 30th April from 5.30 p.m. After 31 editions, the organisation continues incorporating novelties to the race in order to make it a reference not only locally, but also in the national and international calendar.
With the philosophy to propose an event that goes beyond a high level sporting event which serves to attract the athlete and his family and friends, the organization of SHMM has incorporated different determinant novelties to the event. Some of them such as the change of date or the inclusion of new activities are consequence of the results of previous editions and the main goal set for the event, fight against the tourist seasonal standstill through sport.
Another point of interest in which the organization is focusing its efforts is to offer the athlete the best race experience. For this reason, this year we have made the following improvements:
Circuits paths have been changed in order to make them more urban, lively, fast and give prominence to the area. Palmanova and Magaluf, will be the enclaves of the race.
More services for the athlete: SHMM is already a reference regarding the services to the atheletes highlighting physiotherapy, nursery, parallel activities, showers, medical assistance, etc. In regards to this edition, others are added such as a spectacular postmeta (after race) area in which runners will be able to rest in a spectacular enclave, the SOL WAVE HOUSE MALLORCA. Furthermore, improvements in the Pasta party, engraved medals and more gifts for the participants will be added to the proposal.
Residents will be this year a very important part of the race. With the aim of involving them in the event from the beginning, different actions have been designed, amongst which are highlighted:
-Change of the races' schedule in order to be followed easier by the residents.
-Inclusion of leisure, cultural and sports activities for the participation of the resident in the event.
-Improvements in the circulation of the circuits with the aim of holding up the little as possible the main ways of the area.
-Improvements in the channels of information with the resident regarding the development of the race.
Incentives for clubs for the participation of their members as volunteers of the race.
The organization is working intensively to add new proposals to an event that will certainly continue with its projection, always in accordance with the basic guidelines that the three organizations competent in the event, Fundación Calvià 2004, Ajuntament de Calvià and Sol Hotels & Resorts have established:
-Fight against the tourist seasonal standstill through the production of sporting events of great international impact.
-Provide a satisfying race experience to the runners.
-Involve the citizens of the municipality of Calvià in the project.
New date and time: the forthcoming 30th April is the date chosen for the realisation of this edition's race. In addition, the races are due to be started from 5.30 p.m. in order to involve residents and tourists in the event and cause a stunning photo of the arrival with the sunset.
New circuits: more attractive, urban, with very fast areas and aboveall, having as reference at all times the main attraction of the area, its breathtaking coastal scenery and its services.
More prizes: in order to promote the participation of first level athletes, Sol Half Marathon Magaluf 2016 will count on more than 4,000 euros in prizes which will reinforce the existing ones.
Finish line on the beach: the sand of Magaluf beach will be the finish line of the race. A beachfront arrival and counting on the infrastructure of one of the landmark hotels in the area, the SOL WAVE HOUSE MALLORCA.
Much more than a sporting event: children's activities, runner's fair, pasta party, and different entertaining activities not only for the enjoyment of the athlete but also of the companions.
Sol Hotels & Resorts: the involvement as main sponsor of the hotel chain ensures the impetus, the international relevance and the quality of the event.
