THE TOWN HALL PRESENTS THE PROPOSAL OF THE REGULATORY STATUTES OF THE FUTURE TOURISM FORUM OF CALVIÀ TO THE TOURIST SECTOR OF THE MUNICIPALITY

The meeting was attended by representatives of various business associations of Calvià, as well as the heads of public safety in the municipality

The Calvià Town Hall has presented the proposal of the regulatory statutes of the future Tourism Forum of Calvià -which are exposed to the public- to the representatives of various business associations of the municipality related to the tourist sector.

The Mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, explained that the purpose of the meeting was to have a first contact with the sector regarding the new Tourism Forum being created. He said that the intention of the consistory is that the Forum becomes a tool to think, plan and reflect on the tourist industry of the municipality, and to be able to work in matters of activities, strategies and promotion to improve the whole tourist industry.

The Mayor ended his speech insisting that the Forum is presented as a tool to discuss and investigate new products to be a reference in terms of deseasonality, quality and tourist innovation. He recalled that all political parties with municipal representation will be integrated into the new Forum, since the objective is to achieve the maximum consensus needed to reach agreements and make decisions on important issues affecting the tourist industry, so important for the municipality.

It has also been explained a small reorganisation that has taken place in the structure of the General Directors of the Town Hall to coordinate actions of such a strategic sector for the municipality as tourism and the associated offer sector. Jaume Nadal assumes the general direction of Activities and Trade and Joan Mesquida integrates Tourism to the General Direction of Strategic Projects, which is renamed Directorate General of Tourism and Strategic Projects.

At the meeting, were also explained the outlines of the modifications to be introduced in the Police and Good Governance Municipal Bylaw, which will be renamed Municipal Bylaw for the Promotion of the Coexistence in Calvià, and which maintains the contributions agreed in the Monitoring Committee of Magaluf in May 2015. The first Deputy Mayor, Andreu Serra, who is holding a round of meetings with the municipal groups- has explained that these changes have become necessary to update the municipal regulations adapting them to the new laws that have been emerging and modified since the bylaw was approved; to introduce infractions which have gone from being criminal to be administrative; or to remove Articles that have been collected subsequently in other ordinances. He pointed out that it is not a civic ordinance, but of coexistence.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Trade and Urbanism, Antonio García Moles (vice president of the Forum); the Deputy Mayor of General Services and Security, Andreu Serra; the Director General of Tourism and Strategic Projects, Joan Mesquida; the General Director of Activities and Trade, Jaume Nadal; and the chief of the Local Police of Calvià, Justino Trenas as well as technicians of tourism and legal services of the Town Hall.

On behalf of the tourist sector, the meeting was attended by the presidents of the 5 hotel associations of Calvià; responsibles for trade, restoration and leisure associations; representatives of golf clubs; representatives of the taxi and travel agencies sector, as well as the head of the main post of the Civil Guard of Calvià, Eduardo Herrero.
