The Calvià Town Hall reports that it has denied LIME PICTURES authorization to film in the municipality of Calvià.

The Calvià Town Hall has known, due to reports in British media, of the arrival of filming team to record a programme (Geordie Shore) that does not have the authorization of the Town Council.

On the 25th of May, two requests for filming permits by LIME PICTURES were presented at the Town Council, to film a television programme for MTV. The content is based on the interaction between a group of contestants.

After analyzing the petition, and having made sure that the existence of the public interest required by law to authorize the requested activity cannot be determined, the authorization was refused.

The refusal was notified to the petitioner on the 3rd of June 2016.

In view of the information published on the start of the unauthorised filming, the Town Council wants to clarify that:

-The activity requested by LIME PICTURES was refused, and they have been informed.

-They do not have municipal authorization for the requested filming in the municipality of Calvià.

-In addition to the official notification, the Town Hall has contacted the producers to warn them that are not authorized, and they will be prevented from performing the activity.

The Calvià Town Hall will be very vigilant with filming requests that do not comply with what the law states -that do not prove the economic and social criteria required by law, allowing the appretiation of the existence of a public interest within the activity-, and enhance a very biased image of the municipality.

The Town Hall will continue to work with the rest of the public sector and authorities so that the Calvià destination in general, and Magaluf in particular, it is not challenged by interests that do not adhere to the general interest of going towards a higher quality destination.

Tomorrow, at 14:00 h, a meeting has been called in the Calvià Town Hall with the General Director for Tourism of the Balearic Islands Government, Pilar Carbonell; the Town Hall, led by Mayor Alfonso Rodriguez Badal; and representatives of the Tourism Industry.

At the end, the General Director for Tourism of the Government and the Mayor will be available for the media.
