Joint alcohol and drug control with the Guardia Civil
JOINT CONTROL GUARDIA CIVIL-LOCAL POLICE
On Thursday July 14, the Local Police of Calvià and the Guardia Civil, conducted a joint control of public safety and consumption of alcoholic drinks and drugs, about 00:15 hours, at the Magaluf residential area outskirts. 3 units of the Guardia Civil, 3 units of the Local Police, and the Report Unit of the Local Police of Calvià equipped with breathalyzer and drogotest participated in the operation.
This control is framed within the plans of collaboration between both police forces, to be conducted this Summer in various tourist areas of Calvià. These controls are made to coincide with musical events that attract a large number of people in the different leisure areas of the Municipality, so that with its regular planning, can serve to dissuade drivers, mostly young, not to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Specifically in the control carried out early this morning, 25 vehicles were checked, with a result of 5 positive alcohol tests and 1 positive drug test, and 7 traffic reports were imposed by other assumptions.
It is to be highlighted that a 28% of drivers checked tested positive on alcohol/drugs.
