The local police are putting into force various measures to prevent problematic situations in the areas fequented by the young people.

The governing team of Calvia Town Hall, presided by the Mayor Carlos Delgado, are working with the aim of coninually improving law and order and for this reason different measures have been put into force to prevent conflictive situations or problems arising in the areas frequented by the young people.

Amongst the measures developed, one in particular is the creatio of a specific unit, integrated by an officer and three agents, whose job is to coordinate the acts carried out by the agents with the Social Services Department; the addresses and Heads of the schools regarding the incidents carried out by the youngsters that the patrols may detect. Apart from that, the students found outside the school premises in schooltime by the different police units, will be taken to their respective schools and not only the Head of the school will be notified, but also the parents.

The units of law and order will keep daily watch on the secondary schools during break time to prevent possible arguments. At the same time, outside school hours, these same units will patrol the schools and respective play areas to prevent misuse of the installations.

In the same way controls of the playgrounds and skating areas, mainly in Calvia village and Capdella have been intensified, where a marked increase of young people coming not only from the municipality have been registered.  As a result of these controls various acts of drug possesion citing Law 1/92 on law and order have been denounced.

Finally  at the request of the neighbours complaints, various police controls both daytime and nightime have been programmed in the urbanizations of El Toro and Paguera.  In Paguera the practise of "botellones" (drinking benders in the street) has already been detected at the weekends. During these controls, various acts of drug possesion have also been detected.
