Announcement of Calvià Town Hall concerning the information published regarding a record to review the licence to open a discotheque

Given the information published regarding a record related to the discotheque BCM, Calvià Town Hall wants to clarify before the public opinion a series of points.

Firstly, it reports that the record referred to is still in the process of allegations, so the file continues its course preserving all the acts carried out during its processing. It should be recalled that it was the current government team that initiated the revision of the licence to open and operate the discotheque BCM, which dates back to the end of the 1980s.

However, and given the seriousness of certain statements contained in the newspaper article, the Mayor has ordered to open a classified information to investigate whether, at some point, there has been some kind of irregularity in the processing of this file, which if confirmed, would lead to the adoption of the appropriate domestic measures, and likewise, in case of any kind of criminal incidence, it shall be referred to the corresponding Court.

This government team acts with forcefulness against any sign of possible irregularity, as demonstrated by the total willingness and collaboration with the courts before their requirements.

Regardless of the information published today, and within a broad process of reorganisation of different departments, the General Director of Trade and Activities, Jaime Nadal, has already been removed from his post.

The Calvià Town Hall's government team has been immersed, for some weeks, in an important and complex process of organisational restructring of different municipal departments to improve the efficiency of the administration. This implies that:

The activities department will assume the area of infractions and sanctions, going from the Department of Commerce to the Department of Economy. This way, the management related to licences and activities is unified with the infractions, sanctions and urban planning management.

The General Directorate of Commerce disappears, whose competencies pass to the Director General of Tourism, Joan Mesquida, and it is created the General Directorate of Infractions, Sanctions and Activities, assumed by Javier Montejo.

Some competencies in matters of circulation, such as the granting of occupancy and temporary reservation authorisations due to the implementation of activities in the public way, go from the Department of Mobility to the Security Department.

In order to alleviate the department of licences and activities, the management of event licences linked to citizen participation services and youth, is now under the scope of the Citizen Participation and Youth Council, whose new general director is José Francisco Giménez Sánchez.

Joan Amengual is appointed new manager of the Institut Calvianer de l'Esport (Calvià Sports Institute), replacing the previous manager Antoni Sitges, who resigned from his post.

In short, Calvià Town Hall's government team works to improve efficacy, efficiency and transparency in its management, and will be firm and will ensure strict compliance with the law in all actions carried out under its powers. It will not tolerate any interference that may confuse this objective.
