THE CALVIÀ TOWN HALL PROGRAMMES A SERIES OF ACTIVITIES ON THE OCCASION OF 8TH MARCH 'WOMEN'S DAY'

The Calvià Town Hall, through the Department of Equality, has organised a series of activities throughout the month of March on the occasion of 'Women's Day', which begin this Friday with the inauguration of the exhibition 'No tengo dueño' and the comic presentation 'Catalina Homar', in Es Generador, and which will be attended by the Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, the Deputy Mayor for Participation and Youth, Fernando Alcaraz, amongst other members of the municipal government team, and the insular director of Equality of the Consell de Mallorca, Nina Parrón.


On March 8, Women's Day, a public act of remembrance will be held for the murdered women, which is held every month in the Town Hall, and this time will take place at the IFOC, at 12 p.m.

On March 9, at the Town Hall's exhibition hall, the exhibition Mujer y microcrédito will be inaugurated by the association Treball Solidari.


Another scheduled activity is a round-table on the Equality measures started up in the different institutions which will be held on 22
nd March, and in which the municipalities of Calvià and Palma, the UIB, IbDona and the Consell de Mallorca will participate.



In addition, throughout the month of March the book Aurora Picornell (1912-1937), de la historia al símbolo, by David Ginard will be presented; there will be a conference on suffragist women, by Toni Pallicer, and the cinema forum La igualdad es la respuesta (Equality is the answer), by Meritxell Esquirol will be held. A series of sports activities and different workshops have also been scheduled.

La dona més important de la meva vida (The most important woman in my life), is the work of Haider Cheema, student of the CEIP ses Rotes Velles. The short story winner of the contest, and that accompanies the programming is: Nines que lluiten per la seva educació (Girls that fight for their education), of the student Marina del Carmen Roldán Barranco, of 5th of primary of the CEIP Puig de sa Ginesta.
