CALVIÀ ADVANCES THE START OF SEASON OF THE MAIN BEACHES OF THE MUNICIPALITY WITH THE ASSEMBLY OF FACILITIES AND SERVICES

-Nine beaches began operating last week with the gradual placement of umbrellas and hammocks
The tourist season on the beaches starts earlier. The Calvià Town Hall advances the beginning of the seasonal activity on the main beaches of the municipality with the installation of facilities and services in the first two weeks of March so that these can begin to operate.

20% of hammocks and umbrellas have been installed on the beaches of Oratori, Cala Contesa, Carregador, Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, Santa Ponça, Torà and Palmira, to which the rest will gradually be added together with the other services so that on 1st May, 100% of beach services will be operational. They are also installing the walkways for people with reduced mobility, and there is already presence of reactive rescuers.

The tourist season on the beaches starts earlier due to the good tourist prospects for this next season. According to the figures managed by the tourist information offices that depend on the Town Hall, 41% of the hotel establishments of the municipality will open in March this year, while during April the percentage of hotel establishments opened will reach 67%. These percentages of opened hotels represent an increase of 42% for March and 28% for April compared to the hotels opened in the same months of last year.

Being the tourist activity the main economic sector of Calvià, the Ajuntament has implemented a system of quality management on beaches, in particular the Q for tourist quality. It is certified by external bodies which through audits certify that the quality standards established by the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality (ICTE) are met.
