THE DRAINAGE WORKS OF ILLETES TO AVOID THE PERIODIC FLOODS THAT WERE SUFFERING IN THE AREA ARE NOW FINISHED
Speed reducers to calm the traffic have also been installed
The Calvià Town Hall has completed the works to avoid the floods that occurred at the intersection of the Passeig d'Illetes with the MA1-c road, in the event of heavy rains, and which particularly affected the shopping centre and the Rosers residential area. This action responds to a historical claim of the neighbours of the area who have suffered from repeated floods for a long time.
With the works executed, the water is captured from part of the residential areas of Illetes and Cas Català, which scarcely had drainage, leading it to the torrent of es Caló de ses Gerres (in the case of the Cas Català basin) and to the coast through Lepanto square (in the case of the Illetes basin).
The work has consisted in putting drainage points in Estepa St. of Cas Català and large scuppers and water containers in the underside of the sidewalks to collect water on the road itself. The work has been used also to install speed reducers to calm the traffic on both, Passeig d'Illetes and Estepa and adjacent streets.
In order to prevent possible flooding before the start of these works, a preliminary interim intervention was already carried out with the completion of a drainage well.
The works have had a cost of 361,228 euros.
