CALVIÀ TOWN HALL PRESENTS THE FIRST NUMBER OF THE COLLECTION, COL·LECCIÓ CALVIÀ, FOTOGRAFIA DE PREMSA,, WITH THE BOOK OF PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE PHOTOJOURNALIST JOAN LLOMPART TORRELLÓ
It will be presented on 25th July at the exhibition's inauguration
With the edition of the first issue of the collection Col·lecció Calvià, Fotografia de Premsa (Calvià Collection, Press Photography), the Town Hall launches a collection of publications that will have continuity dedicated to press photography that starts with a compilation of images of the photojournalist Joan Llompart Torrelló, which cover the territory and the history of the municipality with photographs taken by Torrelló for 50 years.
Col·lecció Calvià, Fotografia de Premsa wants to add value to the importance that photojournalism has in people's memory, becoming a precious witness of the different moments of their political, social, cultural and event history.
The publication starts with black and white images of the photojournalist Joan Llompart Torrelló who practised his professional task for 40 years in the Diario de Mallorca, and who preserves an important archive, a small part of which appears in the book that the author has titled 'Calvià ahir'.
It is a compilation of images of an important value for the history of the municipality.
The presentation of the book and the inauguration of an exhibition with 57 photographs that are included in the book will be carried out by the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and with the attendance of the author Joan Llompart Torrelló next Tuesday 25th July, at the Town Hall's exhibition room, and which will remain open until 13th October.
The presentation and inauguration will take place on Tuesday 25th July at 7.30 p.m., at Calvià Town Hall's exhibition room (1 Julià Bujosa Sans, batle St).
