Galatzó trail opens registrations for the 2021 edition
• The race will be held on 21st November
• 1000 places for one of the most important trail running events in the Balearic Islands
• The event includes 3 races: marathon, mountain half marathon and kids
Registrations will open on Friday 9th July to participate in the GALATZÓ TRAIL, a trail running event that will take place on 21st November 2021 at the Galatzó public estate in Calvià, Mallorca.
The Galatzó Trail has managed to consolidate itself as one of the most popular trail running events in the Balearic Islands in just 2 editions. Spectacular routes that go entirely through the Galatzó public estate (Serra de Tramuntana) and a clear set of services for athletes, have been key in the popularity of the event amongst local and foreign participants. Currently, almost 40% of registrations come from different parts of Europe.
3 DISTANCES AND LIMITATION OF PARTICIPANTS
The race, in the 2021 edition, will have 3 races: the demanding and spectacular LEGEND (+43 km); the HALF (+23 K), an ideal race to face the long distance trail, and the KIDS (children's race).
The environment in which the race takes place, the trails of the idyllic Galatzó public estate, make necessary to limit participants in this type of events, thus the organisation offers only 800 places on sale distributed between the LEGEND and HALF races, and 200 more for the children's race, which will take place the day before.
EXPECTATION AND 'SOLD OUT' FORECAST
The race has generated great expectation, due amongst other reasons, to the suspension due to COVID-19 of the 2020 edition. The organisation plans to sell out on the registrations as in the two previous editions. Registrations will be on sale as from Friday 9th July, with starting prices ranging from 25 euros for the HALF to 35 euros for the LEGEND.
ROUTES
The organisation, in collaboration with local athletes, have designed circuits with a triple objective:
- Create a unique vision of the estate and, therefore, of the Serra de Tramuntana
- Offer a real challenge for the participants, with the ascent to two of the mythical mountains that are located in the area: s'Esclop and Puig des Galatzó
- Guarantee a 100% mountain race
Galatzó Legend Route (43 km): it is a spectacular and tough route in which participants will have to crown two very technical peaks, those of the Mola de s'Esclop (927 metres) and the Puig des Galatzó (1.027 metres) mountains.
Galatzó Half Route (22 km): this is a route that also starts from Es Capdellà and goes through some of the trails that connect the estate. Participants will face heights higher than 600 metres in a fun and 100% mountain circuit.
SERVICES
The organisation of the Galatzó Trail intends that both participants and companions enjoy an exceptional event experience. For this reason, it ensures a catalogue of services that includes, amongst others, the following: race transfers, finisher T-shirt, finisher medal, timing, supplies in the race and at the finish line, showers, cloakroom, medical and physiotherapy service, entertainment, awards ceremony and other surprises; while the winners will receive a trophy and a gift kit.
THE ORGANISATION
Fundación Calvià 2004 and Calvià Town Hall, through the Institut Calvianer d'Esports (ICE), with the collaboration of the Mallorca Turisme Foundation and the Hotel Association of Peguera and Cala Fornells, organise this event with two objectives:
• Enhance one of the main assets of the natural heritage of the municipality of Calvià by holding a top-level sporting event.
• Offer a proposal of local, national and international interest that serves to provoke the influx of athletes to the municipality in low season.
