CALVIÀ, THE BALEARIC MUNICIPALITY WITH MOST Q FLAGS ON BEACHES
The Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality has distinguished 15 Calvià beaches
Juan Antonio Amengual: "These distinctions certify the quality of the Calvià beach offer"
The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, has collected the 15 Q distinctions at an event in Madrid chaired by the Secretary of State for Tourism and which was attended by the president of the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE), Miguel Mirones.
Juan Antonio Amengual has pointed out that "these awards certify that the Calvià beaches meet internationally approved requirements and reflect the tourist quality offered by the Calvià coastline, which is the municipality with most Q distinctions in the Balearic Islands and the third in Spain".
The mayor has also stated that "these distinctions are a stimulus to continue with both, the task of improving Calvià beaches and our goal so that the beaches can offer services throughout the year."
The 15 beaches with the Q flag are: Buganvilia, Illetas spa, Cala Comtessa, Portals Nous, l'Oratori, es Carregador, Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, Ses Penyes Rotges (El Toro), Santa Ponça and la Romana, Torà and Palmira, the last three in Peguera.
With its 15 Q distinctions, Calvià is the municipality in the Balearic Islands with most flags on its beaches out of a total of 24 and the third in Spain, after Marbella (19) and Sanxenxo (16).
The Q flags are awarded by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality, which depends on the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, based on the internationally recognised ISO quality standard.
Every year, to opt for the Q flags,Calvià beaches have to go through an independent audit that certifies compliance with demanding quality, sustainability and safety standards, through which compliance with the established requirements and parameters is verified. both in the management and in the control of the procedures and works that are carried out on the beaches.
