This new "green ridge", of 20.000 m2, has allowed the government team to recover an area that was totally degraded and that had become a focus of grime and litter and uncontrolled car parking.

The building work, whose budget rose to 924.000 €, has consisted in the integral remodeling of this space situated between Punta Ballena and the road Federico García Lorca; Avinguda Pedro Vaquer Ramis y General García Ruiz. On the one hand they have a carried out an environmental recovery by removing the dead exotic vegetation and substituted it by native plants.

In the interior of the pine trees they have placed pedestrian walkways bordered by dry stone.  Furthermore a pedestrian way has been created between Punta Ballena and Pere Vaquer Ramis that has been completed with the installation of a childrens play area and public seating.  The new green zone also has some steps connecting to the calle Alt, a road that didn't have and exit until now.

It should be pointed out that the project, designed by the municipal engineers Joan Mas y Gabriel Ferrà and carried out by Obras y Pavimentaciones Man, has also had the addition of certain stretches of the services network such as drains, fresh water, purified water and rain water, apart from the underground installations of telephone, electricity and television cables.

The remodelling work has been supervised by the municipal department of Roads and Works.

This work has been within the framework of the global remodelling project that will be carried out in the area of the front line of Magaluf and whose next job will be centred on renovating the land where theold Hotel Atlantic stood and the construction of 250 new parking places nearby.
