The mayor has asked the Balearic government to assume the cost of the service since it is an autonomous competition

Mayor Carlos Delgado has announced to the 14 members of the AMYPAS (Parents association) and centres of education ( 11 schools and 3 colleges) the decision to maintain the free status of revision sessions, given the opposition to payment stated by the aforementioned associations.

The Mayor added that he had written to the Ministry of Education, to Minister Barbara Galmes, a letter in which he proposed that the Balearic Government assume the cost of this service which amounts to some 450.000 €.

The associations appreciate the understanding of the Mayor in this situation, and have offered to jointly approach the Ministry in question given that this service falls within the remit of the Govern Balear. So far the Calvià Town Hall has assumed the cost of this service as well as that of the text books for schoolchildren.

The Mayor has also requested a meeting with The Minister of Education to present the need of the Ministry taking on the costs for the aforementioned services. Until further notice this cost will be borne by Calvià Town Hall.
