Major Carlos Delgado introduces the Showcase which will take place every Friday during the month of April
The Major of Calvià, Carlos Delgado, along with the Deputy Major of Business, Manolo Grillé and the secretary of the Cavià Foundation, Antoni Rami, presented the Kitchen Showcase which starts this Friday and every Friday throughout the month of April in Calvià.
During the presentation those present could sample some of the dishes which will be served at lunchtimes and evenings in the 36 restaurants which are taking part in the Showcase . Thie format has recently changed in order to offer the opportunity for people to get to known the high level of gastronomy and diversity available in the Calvià region.
Calvià on this occasion wishes to do direct promotion of the restaurant sector and therefore the format has changed this year in comparison to previous years. People wishing to sample the dishes now go to the various restaurants which are part of the initiative, thus allowing people not only to try out the dishes but also see the various venues.
The Major of Calvià has announced that the Showcase, which has cost some 75.000€ (actually half the cost of previous events), was open to all restaurants in the municipality, this has been a success as demonstrated by the amount of restaurants which are taking part. Mayor Carlos Delgado highlights that the success of this showcase and the fact that dates are allocated means that bookings have to be made to ensure places. Some of the restaurants are already fully booked. The aim is to encourage people from within and outside of the municipality to come and take part "come to Calvià to diner and enjoy".
Fridays Showcase takes part in 8 different restaurants in Cas Català, Illetes, Bendinat and Portals Nous. On Friday 11th it goes to Son Caliu, Palmanova, Magaluf and Son Ferrer, on that day 12 restaurants are taking part. On Friday 18th the venue is Santa Ponça, Son Bugadelles and Costa de la Calma with 9 restaurants participating. Finally on 25th in Peguera, Cala Fornells and Calvià town with a total of 7 restaurants.
