Calvià increases hotel beds available throughout the year by 20%.
  • More than half of the offer belongs to 4-star establishments
  • All areas grow in the number of accommodations with annual openings, except the Cas Català-Illetes and Peguera areas

Calvià consolidates its commitment to deseasonalisation by achieving a 20% increase in hotel beds available throughout the year, reaching a total of 3.331 beds in 2024 compared to the 2.718 in 2023. This growth reinforces the positioning of the municipality as an attractive and accessible tourist destination 365 days a year. The increase in hotel beds open all year round boosts the Calvià economy, with positive impacts also on the complementary offer. In addition, stable employment is generated and the life quality of workers in the sector improves, reducing the economic uncertainty of families dependent on tourism.

All areas of the municipality have seen an increase in the number of accommodations opening annually, except for Cas Català-Illetes and Peguera, which have seen slight decreases. In the case of Peguera, this is due to the dependence of this area on German tourism and a drop in bookings caused by the increase in the cost of flights to Germany and the economic situation in the country.

By category, the Maricel hotel in Cas Català remains the only five-star establishment with uninterrupted opening. This is joined by the renovated Donna hotel in Portals Nous, with four stars and 69 beds, which recently opened its annual season. According to the mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, this establishment "has opted for quality and for remaining open all year round, keeping practically all the staff and almost all the services." The advantage of this hotel is its proximity to Palma, a destination for many winter getaways.

In the four-star category, which represents 54% of the annual offer, 1.818 places were registered, while three-star accommodations totalled 886 beds, equivalent to 26.5%. The two- and one-star categories maintain a more limited offer, with 101 and 106 beds, respectively, which reflects a commitment to the highest quality segment in the municipality.

Deseasonalisation facilitates the attraction of new segments of tourists interested in activities such as sports, cultural, gastronomic and nature tourism, and reduces dependence on sun and beach tourism during the summer months. In addition, the annual availability of accommodation optimises tourist infrastructure, prevents its underuse and encourages a more balanced and sustainable development for Calvià.

Outstanding results in security and international promotion

Calvià's commitment to safe tourism is also reflected in the absence of cases of "balconing" for the second consecutive year, in addition to a reduction in sanctions for behaviour contrary to municipal ordinances. These measures have reinforced coexistence and security for both residents and visitors.

Furthermore, Calvià Town Hall reaffirms its position as a tourism leader in the Balearic Islands with a promotional strategy with the slogan "One Tourist, One Friend", promotional material that seeks to convey the characteristic hospitality of the municipality and to remind that Calvià is ready to receive tourists throughout the year.

With these advances, Calvià is consolidating itself as a benchmark model in sustainability and tourist diversification, contributing to the competitiveness of the destination at an international level.
