- The awards include various categories and have monetary prizes reaching 1.500 euros in most categories
Calvià Town Hall has once again announced the Rei En Jaume Awards with the aim of promoting artistic and literary creation, as well as fostering cultural activity in the municipality. The awards include various categories and have monetary prizes reaching 1.500 euros in most categories, in addition to the publication of the winning works in the literary categories. The Painting and Photography categories also include the incorporation of the winning works into the municipal artistic heritage and the possibility of exhibiting them in municipal premises.
The categories are as follows: Rei En Jaume Painting Award; Rei En Jaume Photography Award; Rei En Jaume Young Short Story Award; Rei En Jaume Prize for Narrative in Catalan; Rei En Jaume Prize for Narrative in Spanish; Rei En Jaume Prize for Poetry in Catalan; and Rei En Jaume Prize for Poetry in Spanish. In addition, three honorary prizes will be awarded without monetary endowment.
Continuing with the clause introduced last year, works generated in whole or in part by artificial intelligence will not be accepted, and the organisation may require participants to prove authorship of the submitted works. This measure responds to the desire to preserve the authenticity and human value of artistic and literary creation.
Narrative, Young Short Story and Poetry works may be submitted until 12th June, while the Photography and Painting works may be submitted until 19th June. The awards in all categories will be presented at a gala at the end of October. The competition's terms and conditions can be found on Calvià Town Hall's website.
