END OF THE VOTING PHASE OF THE II PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING IN WHICH 13 PROPOSALS HAVE BEEN APPROVED

The voting phase of the second Participatory Budgeting launched by Calvià Town Hall has been completed, in which 13 of the 58 proposals that were put out to vote have been approved.

The budget on which citizens of Calvià decide amounts to 893,542 euros this year and the projects approved for a value of 889,593 euros in this edition refer to improvement of sports and educational infrastructures, provision of materials (books, defibrillators, tablets and laptops), communication screens and environmental and recycling projects, amongst others.

The deputy mayor for Participation and Youth, Fernando Alcaraz, thanked the participation of the neighbours in the process that has received 1,629 supports, tripling the number of citizens who participated in the previous process.

All those aged over 16 registered in the municipality of Calvià have been able to vote in the Participatory Budgeting.

The voting process began on 22nd June, with the proposals validated by the Technical Commission, which fulfilled a series of requirements: you had to be a Calvià resident to present an initiative, the proposal had to be within the competence of the Town Hall, it had to be viable, it could not contravene current regulations, could not coincide with initiatives that are already under way or are already planned by the Town Hall, and investment projects had to have a minimum cost of 50,000 euros and a maximum of 200,000 euros, and a minimum of 5,000 euros and a maximum of 50,000 euros for the rest of non investment proposals.

Fernando Alcaraz explained that the projects, which the citizens of Calvià have given the green light to, will start in 2018. Meanwhile, work will begin on the third Participatory Budgeting, thus responding to one of the investiture agreement commitments.
