Monday 9th November 2020

INFORMATIVE NOTE FROM THE LOCAL POLICE OF CALVIÀ

38 REPORTS DRAFTED TO YOUNG PEOPLE FOR BREACHING THE COVID-19 REGULATION THIS WEEKEND

In most cases these were boys who practiced sports

The Local Police of Calvià acted this weekend in six situations of groups of young people or minors who carried out activities in sports spaces in which access is prohibited or that remain open and in which the COVID-19 regulations were breached. Yesterday afternoon the police officers went to the skate park of the Galatzó residential area alerted that there were an excess of people, that COVID-19 regulations were not being followed and that there were prohibited substances. Although the number of young people gathered could not be accurately counted, it is estimated that it was close to a hundred. The police officers proceeded to vacate the area and fined thirteen boys for not wearing a face mask. Those young people who were practicing sports were not fined, since it is not mandatory to have a covered mouth and nose in this circumstance. However, three reports were drafted for drug possession.

The police also monitored the sports areas of Son Caliu, El Toro and Àgora Portals private school yesterday afternoon, in case contact activities were carried out. In the facilities attached to the Àgora school, a group of twelve boys were located on the football field who were not complying with the regulations derived from the pandemic situation. On Saturday, two reports were drafted for a possible violation of the "Plan of Exceptional Measures for prevention, containment and coordination to face the health crisis caused by COVID-19", section VII.1.2. It was an adult and four children who were playing football in El Toro area, when the plan indicates that only individual sports and the couples modality are allowed. On Friday afternoon, on the basketball court, also in El Toro, three young people who played this contact sport were fined, who do not belong to any federated team, and are not family or coexist.

Local Police officers also fined a group of five young people who were in the Sol de Mallorca area on Saturday afternoon without wearing a face mask. Also on Saturday, at Punta Marroig beach in Palmanova, three minors were fined for not wearing a face mask and not maintaining a safety distance, and one of them had marijuana. The police officers notified the parents, who appeared to be notified of the events.

Establishments

On Sunday at 11.20 p.m., a café-concert in Magaluf was fined for breaching the COVID-19 regulations, since it is a nightlife venue and it cannot open. At 9.15 p.m. on Saturday, in Santa Ponça, an establishment where many people congregated outside was also proposed for fine. In another sense, the owner of a bar in Son Ferrer requested the police services because a client did not want to leave the establishment at 11.25 p.m. on Saturday. The woman was fined for disrespecting the officers.

Traffic

Regarding vehicles, from 24th October to today, 33 passengers who were driving a car and were not wearing a face mask when it was mandatory, have been fined. Even last Monday, a taxi customer attacked the driver in an argument because the passenger did not want to wear a face mask.

Son Bugadelles market

In another area, last month the Calvià Local Police officers had to act due to non-compliance with the COVID-19 regulations at the Son Bugadelles market: due to lack of capacity control, the lack of a safe circuit or insufficient separation between exhibitors. In addition, eight reports were drawn up for not wearing a face mask. The police forces and Civil Guard intervened and urged to reorganise the market operation. The Calvià Local Police officers have been monitoring the Son Bugadelles market for four weeks and it seems that the monitoring of the regulations derived from the pandemic has already been normalised and no new fines have been issued.
