Friday 5th February 2021

THE NEW GAS STATION IN THE SON BUGADELLES INDUSTRIAL ESTATE HAS BEEN INAUGURATED

It is a compressed natural gas station that serves TIB buses and that soon will also be open to the public for refueling private vehicles

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the Regional Minister for Mobility and Housing, Marc Pons, visited this morning the Calvià TIB bus fleet new garage-gas station. During the visit, the president of Moventia, Miquel Martí, also took part, and the Deputy Mayor for General Services and Infrastructures, Juan Recasens, attended on behalf of the Town Hall.

The mayor highlighted the improvement of such an important service for the municipality such as public transport, also in what the compressed natural gas fuel system will mean from the environmental and acoustic impact point of view. He also stressed that the entry into operation of these facilities located in the centre of the municipality, will allow greater efficiency in the service and will also be an advantage in the future for the refueling of other public services such as taxis.

On his behalf, the regional minister explained that "this is one of the six gas stations that we have promoted with the new TIB network on the island of Mallorca, and the first one open to all citizens and business networks". Pons wanted to highlight the qualitative leap that has been made in the launch of the new TIB: "five years of work are giving good results, a very competitive offer and improvement of public transport thus placing Mallorca at the forefront of a new model of interuban mobility ".

The garage, located at the Son Bugadelles industrial estate, includes a car park with capacity to house 42 buses, a vehicle-cleaning area, an office and a fast-loading compressed natural gas station with two refueling lanes with NGV 1 and NGV2 pumps. The gas station supplies Compressed Natural Gas (CNG-GNC) fuel in Moventis' TIB bus fleet. Soon, the gas station will also be open to the public, thus allowing GNC to be refueled to both private cars and lorries, coaches and vans.
