ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE REI EN JAUME AWARDS XXI EDITION, WHICH INCLUDES PHOTOGRAPHY, COMIC AND THEATRE AWARDS, AND THIS YEAR AS A NOVELTY, THE DISCIPLINE OF POETRY IS RECOVERED
The awards ceremony will take place within the Festes del rei En Jaume activity programme
Calvià Town Hall, through the Department of Culture, announces the Premis rei En Jaume for this year 2023. The purpose of the competition is to promote artistic creation in different disciplines, promote the cultural activity of the municipality and make it known from various aspects: historical, geographical, recreational or natural.
For this purpose, although the theme is free in all categories, and despite the fact that it is not mandatory, the jury will especially value the presence of Calvià in the theme of the participating works or their relationship with the municipality, either in a literal or metaphorical way.
This year, as a novelty, the discipline of Poetry is recovered, which was active until 2011, the year in which the awards were stopped, called again from the year 2018.
The presentation period of the participating works in the Comic and Photography categories will be from 5th to 15th June, and in the Poetry and Theatre categories will be from 26th June to 6th July. Projects may be submitted by email, certified mail or transport agency.
The grants are as follows:
Premi Rei En Jaume for Comic: 1.500 € + publication of the work + 100 copies for the author/authoress.
Premi Rei En Jaume for Photography: 1.500 € + exhibition at the Town Hall.
Premi Rei En Jaume for Poetry: 1.500 € + publication of the work + 100 copies for the author/authoress.
Premi Rei En Jaume for Theatre: 5.000 € + theatrical residence + premiere with box office.
The exhibition inauguration will take place during the last week of August, and the awards ceremony will take place within the Festes del rei En Jaume activity programme.
