CREATION OF 25 TEMPORARY TAXI LICENSES IN CALVIÀ
In the extraordinary Plenary Session, the reciprocity agreement between the municipalities of Calvià and Andratx was also approved
On Friday, 5th May 2023, the proposal to create 25 temporary autotaxi licenses for the 2023 season, in Calvià, was approved in the extraordinary Plenary Session, in accordance with Law 4/2014 on land transport and sustainable mobility of the Balearic Islands.
This proposal, agreed with the Calvià Taxi Association, seeks to provide a solution by reinforcing this public transport service during the months of high season, so its validity is scheduled from 1st June to 30th September 2023.
Holders of a Calvià municipal autotaxi license may opt to obtain a temporary license, who may submit an application for a license. If more than 25 applications are received, temporary licenses will be awarded by lottery. In the event that there are less than 25 applications, and the contingent of temporary licenses that can be granted cannot be covered, the remaining number may be covered by salaried workers from the taxi sector. For this, two classifications of applicants will be created: Access Group 1, corresponding to municipal autotaxi license holders, and Access Group 2, which will correspond to salaried workers in the sector.
De este modo, cuando un taxi de Calvià circule por el municipio de Andratx, o viceversa, y observe que en un punto habilitado oficialmente como parada de taxi haya personas esperando y en ese momento no hay ningún taxi del municipio esperando para poder prestar el servicio, se permitirá cargar única y exclusivamente a un taxi del otro municipio. Esta autorización será válida en todas las paradas excepto en las paradas de: Calvià vila, Es Capdellà, El Toro y Sant Elm. La colaboración, que finalizará el 31 de octubre de 2023, se podrá desarrollar durante los 7 días de la semana, las 24 horas del día.
To facilitate the adaptation of vehicles that have access to a temporary license, the Calvià Town Hall plans to set up an allocation of 30,000 euros (1,200 euros per vehicle) to finance the cost of adapting them, for the installation of a temporary taximeter, free/occupied lights, vehicle labeling, etc.
On the other hand, the proposal from the General Directorate of Mobility and Land Transport of the Regional Government for an agreement between the town halls of Calvià and Andratx and the local auto-taxis groups of Calvià and Andratx to request reciprocity of service between both municipalities was also approved in Plenary Session.
In this way, when a Calvià taxi circulates through the municipality of Andratx, or vice versa, and he or she observes that at a point officially authorised as a taxi rank there are people waiting and at that moment there is no taxi from the municipality waiting to provide the service, it will be allowed for a taxi from the other municipality to carry passengers, only and exclusively in this case. This authorisation will be valid at all taxi stands xcept at the stands of: Calvià village, Es Capdellà, El Toro and Sant Elm. The collaboration, which will end on 231st October 2023, can be carried out 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
