Ponent improves its connection with the TIB bus

 Thursday, 26th October 2023

The Ponent area improves its connection with the TIB bus and incorporates more vehicles starting in November

The Ponent area improves its connection with the Transports de las Illes Balears (TIB) network bus service and incorporates more vehicles on lines in the municipalities of Calvià and Andratx starting on 1st November, as part of the improvements in various lines on Mallorca of the TIB network from this date, at the beginning of the new winter schedules.

On 1st November, the service in the area will be reinforced and some of the Calvià and Andratx lines, with greater demand, will modify their schedule to adjust to the needs of users during the winter months.

Port d'Andratx line 101 reinforces the service with a new departure from Palma at 11 p.m. and at 10 p.m. from Port d'Andratx. Line 108, which connects Son Caliu, Portals Nous, Bendinat and Cas Català with Palma, also adds the 10:45 p.m. service from Palma on weekdays.

Line 102 Peguera – Palma and line 121 Sant Elm – Andratx improve their service compared to last winter. Line 102 adds new departures at 11 p.m., both from Palma and Peguera, and line 121 increases the service with five new departures a day to offer almost the same frequency as it has had during the summer months.

On the other hand, line 103 permanently extends its route to Costa de la Calma, offering twenty-seven outbound and twenty-six return expeditions from Monday to Saturday, with the first departure from Palma at 6:10 a.m. and the last departure from Costa de la Calma. at 11:25 p.m. On Sundays, the service has twenty-two and twenty-one services respectively. This improvement also coincides with the expansion of service on line 106, which extends its route to Nova Santa Ponça. In addition, it also improves its schedule from Monday to Saturday compared to last winter by incorporating a last departure from Palma at 10:30 p.m.

To offer this service expansion, more buses will be added starting in November compared to last winter. Eighteen-metre articulated buses with capacity for fifty-seven people seated, as well as forty standing, are incorporated into line 122 Port d'Andratx – Santa Ponça. On lines 102 Peguera – Palma and 103 Santa Ponça – Palma, one additional vehicle is added to each line, while on line 104 Magaluf – Palma, two more are added.

This measure is intended to respond to the expected increase in demand in the area due to tourist deseasonalisation and thus be able to guarantee the usual service to residents who use public transport for their daily trips.

From the TIB, it is reminded that Mallorca residents can currently travel for free with the Intermodal Card. People who do not have an Intermodal Card can travel with the bank card throughout the TIB network (bus, train and underground).

Intermodal Card issuance points in Calvià:

-Magaluf sports centre. 23 Palmeras Avenue. Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
