Calvià joins the Mallorca Responsible Tourism Commitment promoted by the Consell de Mallorca and Fundació Mallorca Turisme presented at the World Travel Market in London. The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, has highlighted how the demand for sustainable tourism by visitors and residents matches the municipality's 365 strategy: «the environmental commitment to which we embrace represents a social, economic and tourist responsibility with the Mallorca of the future, with the Calvià of the future».

The commitment is based on eight axes signed by the Town Hall in which emphasis is placed - amongst other aspects - on promoting local visits, publicising our products and services and living an experience that demonstrates that it is possible to combine both, the exercise of tourism and the generation of wealth with environmental sustainability. "We want the tourists who visit us to enjoy the experience, to get to know us, to consume local products and everything we offer from a sustainable perspective," said Amengual after signing the commitment.

For her part, the deputy mayor for Tourism, Elisa Monserrat, has insisted on the value of promoting policies that transcend and revert the errors of yesteryear: "we align ourselves with this commitment thinking about tomorrow and future generations. The negative impacts of the past, what we did not do well, will be corrected with positive impacts. In Calvià we have been in it from minute one. "Tourism without sustainability is tourism without future."
