Thursday, 9th November 2023

CALVIÀ BECOMES THE EPICENTRE OF DANCE WITH THE MALLORCA DANCE FESTIVAL

More than 1000 dancers from thirty countries will compete over the weekend

Starting this Friday and throughout the weekend, Calvià is the meeting point for the second edition of the Mallorca Dance Festival. This event, which will bring together more than 1.000 dancers from more than 30 countries, celebrates diversity and mastery in dance. For three days, the event will offer more than fifty hours of dance in three different spaces, providing a unique experience for all attendees.

This year's edition hosts renowned competitions, such as the World Dance Sport Federation European Senior 2 Championship and the World Dance Sport Federation World Championship Solo Female for Adults, Youths and Juniors, marking a milestone as it is the first time they have been held in the framework of the Mallorca Dance Festival. In addition, two national competitions will be held for the national ranking and choreographic dance.

The Mallorca Dance Festival provides dancers with a platform to showcase skills, creativity and dedication in various dance styles. Each performance seeks to convey unique emotions and expressions, reflecting the diversity inherent in the world of dance. In the second edition of Mallorca Dance Festival it highlights the idea that dance goes beyond linguistic and cultural barriers, connecting people from all over the world through the universality of movement and the joy that it brings.

The 'Centre Ball Mallorca' Sports Dance Club, led by coaches Jordi Fàbrega and Maria Pomar, organises this event with outstanding participation from its athletes. Amongst them, Vicente Munar and Rosa Maria Perelló, who are emerging as favourites to reach the top in the World Dance Sport Federation European Senior 2 Championship. Likewise, in the Solo Female category, the participation of Irene Costa, current Spanish Champion and representative of the club, promises a display of talent that points towards the podium.

The competitions will take place in the Galatzó Municipal Pavilion, in the Sala Palmanova and at the Reverence Mare Hotel.
