Calvià Town Hall has sent a message to citizens to support local commerce, both in the interior of the municipality and in tourist areas. It is the latter that help keep the coastal areas going. Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual has toured Palmanova accompanied by the area councillor, Manuel Mas, and the head of Commerce, Benito Ferrer.

Amengual wanted to publicly recognise the efforts of the traders in the tourist areas that remain open: «they are businesspeople and workers who are committed to keeping the areas alive, their work serves to convince hoteliers and airlines of the viability of Calvià in winter. But they also remain open for our residents, who I encourage to go out to shop or have a coffee or have lunch or dinner at our premises.

Mas, for his part, as head of the Palmanova-Magaluf area, has taken good note of the traders' requests regarding maintenance and improvement works on the road and street furniture that must be undertaken in the coming months. "Being able to talk to them face to face is the way to know what they need, act where they demand it and together make Calvià a better and open municipality in winter," he said.
