On Thursday, Calvià Town Hall activated a new campaign to boost local commerce. Under the motto Calvià lo Vale, the council puts into circulation during November a total of 17.500 vouchers aimed at people residing in the municipality, over 16 years of age. Each voucher will cost 10 euros, but will have a value of 20 euros, and each person residing in Calvià will be eligible for a maximum of four vouchers until those available are sold out, which will allow to purchase products in local businesses worth 80 euros at a price of 40 euros. The Calvià lo Vale campaign will continue until 28th February. The vouchers can be redeemed at any participating business until 31st March.

In total, Calvià Town Hall will allocate 175.000 euros to this action, which will generate an economic impact of at least 350.000 euros, coinciding first with Black Friday, and later with the Christmas holidays.

The mayor of the municipality, Juan Antonio Amengual, has encouraged citizens to access the vouchers through the website comerciocalvia.com and to benefit from the campaign in the hundred participating businesses. In the same way, interested businesses still have time to join: "these are months in which everything is uphill and with the vouchers we help both, citizens and local businesses. We would like to increase the number of participating businesses, it is very easy and we want them all to be there. The way the vouchers work is very simple.

To publicise the initiative, two members of the 'Circo Stromboli' circus will visit a dozen popular places in the municipality next week. In squares, streets and markets, Calvià residents will be able to learn first-hand how to join in the case of businesses, and how to redeem the vouchers in the case of residents, who have already shown in recent weeks their willingness to take advantage of the consistory's proposal.
