PRESENTATION OF THE MALLORCA WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT ORGANISED BY THE VICENTE DEL BOSQUE ACADEMY WITH THE COLLABORATION OF THE CALVIÀ TOWN HALL
Vicente del Bosque has presented today in Madrid the new tournament 'Mallorca Women's Tournament' to be held in Calvià during Holy Week, organised by the Vicente del Bosque Football Academy, in collaboration with Calvià Town Hall, which will mean for the municipality at least 1.500 stays.
The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, in his speech, pointed out that the objective is to unite the practice of sport and quality sporting events to tourism. But, in addition, he added, 'the tournaments organised by the Vicente del Bosque Foundation provide sporting values, because they conceive sport not only as a successful activity linked to victory, but also as success linked to sports practice, effort and friendship, values that are promoted by the Calvià Sports Institute'.
The presentation ceremony was also attended by the deputy mayor for Sports, Eva Serra, as well as well-known faces, especially from the world of football.
The new tournament 'Mallorca Women's Tournament' will be held during Holy Week, from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 April, and 10 women's teams are expected to participate, with a total of 200 players. The sporting event will include football, futsal and football for the integration of people with intellectual disabilities, and will take place at the Magaluf football field facilities, at the Son Caliu rugby and football field and in the Son Ferrer and Galatzó sports halls.
The new women's sports tournament will be held this year for the first time, but the Vicente del Bosque Football Academy is already carrying out another event in Calvià, also in collaboration with the Town Hall. This is the MIFC Mallorca Football Cup, which means more than a thousand overnight stays for the municipality over four days, from 23rd to 27th June, of which 53% are international.
